WAITING FOR THE DROP

Sound Sculpture 2015

This is a live recording from my sculptural installation at the Wassaic Project Gallery in Wassaic NY. The piece was created using two mixing bowls inset in a kitchen island with faucets modulating drops of water into the mixing bowls. Contact mics on the bottom of the bowls picked up the sounds of the water and fed them into a DJ mixer inset between the two. I performed this mix live into Logic Pro using a Korg KP3 for the F/X.

GHOST OF A DREAM

Songs about Rainbows 2013

songsaboutrainbows4

This was a collaboration between myself and Ghost of a Dream for their Day is Done show in Belgium and Paris. It is comprised of 52 songs about rainbows. I exploited dj software to craft dreamy drones out of micro samples from each song with the intention of creating an uncomfortable sonic atmosphere. At times, hint’s of the original scores poke through the melee of madness and contribute to the feeling of wandering deeper into the darkness. Songs About Rainbows is made from thousands of used playing cards from casinos all around America. The viewer enters the installation to find themselves in a space that stretches into infinity. The soundtrack, made in collaboration with Nolan Gray, pulls samples from 52 songs about rainbows.
